Mind dazzling craziness
Thrash metal band Gama Bomb has been wreaking musical havoc since 2002 and earlier this month the band released their latest album BATS. Each track is simply stunning due, the instrumentation shakes the background with face smacking sound while the vocal performance serenades the ears with powerful vocal tones. Those who enjoy hearing loud, erratic and vein jolting music are in for a treat.
Kicking things off is “Prologue: Under The Pyramids.” What is really neat is how the noises from creepy characters can be heard roaming in the dark background while someone is opening a locked door. Sure, there is nothing musical about “Prologue: Under The Pyramids,” but it gives listeners a chance to feel the creepy vibe before the musical madness starts.
“Rusted Gold” is a classic example of thrash metal. The guitar playing from John Roche, Dominic Dixon and Joe McGuigan brings electrifying riffs that are similar to Megadeth and Philly Byrne’s thrilling vocal performance brings a solid Iron Maiden vibe. Altogether, the music on this track brings back the metal noise thanks to the band’s amazingly technical musical skills.
“Don’t Get Your Hair Cut” is a head banger that features killer drum beats, contributing to the lingering insanity. Right at the beginning, the sound of fast paced drum playing can be heard sizzling the air with great authority. The best part is hearing each drum beat blending in with the rest of the fast instrumentation.
“Speed Funeral” is another fabulous ditty that has Dixon playing his heart out on the guitar. As a whole, each spicy guitar riff contributes to the ongoing havoc. The best part is hearing Dixon’s guitar solo bring an extra kick of energy and musical force that blends in with the rest of the instrumentation. “Speed Funeral” is one of those tunes where the lead guitar playing steals the whole song.
BATS is a wonderful album that proves Gama Bomb still knows how to create shocking trash metal that can thrive in today’s musical world.
