Nathaniel Rateliff is an American singer and songwriter based in Denver, Colorado. He has been described as a folk singer with influences of Americana and vintage rhythm & blues. Rateliff also performs with a backing band called the Night Sweats, which is an R&B side project of his that he formed in 2013. He has released three solo albums, two solo EPs, and one album as Nathaniel Rateliff & the Wheel.

Rateliff was born in St. Louis, Missouri and started music at a young age, learning to play the drums at seven. As a teenager he taught himself guitar, began writing songs and, by eighteen he had taken his talents to Denver. He has developed a very dedicated following in the Denver music community and was even called a Denver local folk-pop hero by the New York Times. Rateliff has also shared the stage with artists such as Bon Iver, Mason Jennings, Iron & Wine, Ben Howard, Michael Kiwanuka, The Low Anthem, Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling, Rosanne Cash, and The Lumineers.
