Maren Morris at Bowery Ballroom on Nov. 6

Maren Morris is an American country music singer-songwriter. Her music also blends elements of pop, R&B, and hip-hop.

Critics have commented on Morris’ music as being a combination of country with R&B with hip-hop style and it “rides the beat” according to Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic. Her vocal style has been described as versatile being that it can move across the country and pop genres. Maren calls herself a country artist and states that at the core of her songwriting is country and the influences she uses from other genres only enhance her specific style. Artists that she has been noted to be influenced by are Katy Perry, Coldplay, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, Chaka Khan, and Hank Williams.

Morris released her debut album Hero in 2016 and it came with great acclaim. Her first major hit single, “My Church” peaked at number five on the Billboard Country Songs chart, number nine on the same publication’s Country Airplay chart, and number three on the Canada Country chart. That song would later go on to win the Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance. The album as a whole reached number five on the Billboard 200, and number one on the country albums chart. After this breakout in success, Morris went on tour with Keith Urban followed by her own headlining tour the next year.

Morris continues to climb the ladder of success and will be performing an intimate set at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, NY on November 6 for her fan club “The Lunatics.” Tickets are on sale now at https://www.marenmorris.com/.
