Amanda Palmer’s “Life After” Series at The Rubin Museum of Art: November 3, 10, & 17

Amanda Palmer has put together a panel of three conversations to take place at The Rubin Museum of Art on 17th st in NYC. Tickets are $25 and the talks are 90 minutes each.

The theme for this event is “life after.” Her thought process is that there has been a lot going on in the world and some things might be getting lost in the moment. This is to focus on what happens after those moments pass and how we can reflect on them moving forward. Examples that Palmer states are Life after lockdown, life after divorce, life after diagnosis, life after falling asleep, life after having a child, life after losing a parent, and life after death.

The first talk will take place on Friday, November 3 with Tibetan Artist Gonkar Gyotsu, and he will be talking about “Life After Lockdown.” Gyatso is known for his colorful collages of found stickers, logos, and images that have been known to merge pop culture’s iconography with symbols of Buddhist spiritualism. His idea is to subvert the stereotypes of Tibetan culture and reflect on the popularity of commercial Buddhism in the West.

The second talk will be on Friday, November 10 with writer Sophie Strand as she covers “Life After Wellness.” Sophie Strand is a writer based in the Hudson Valley who focuses on the intersection of spirituality, storytelling, and ecology.

The third and final talk will be on Friday, November 17 with journalist/activist Noor Tagouri, as she covers “Life After Telling the Truth.” Noor is an award-winning journalist and producer, a touring speaker for over 15 years, and has told stories in every medium from radio and print, to documentaries and brand campaigns.

All three of these conversations will be filmed for Palmer’s Patreon if you are not able to attend the events in person. Tickets and more information are on her Patreon website at https://www.patreon.com/posts/91086505.
