After their 20-show 2022 residency at Brooklyn Steel, LCD Soundsystem returns for a 2023 NYC Tri-Boro residency! This time they are scaling back to 12 shows and breaking it up into three chunks- playing at Brooklyn Steel, Terminal 5, and Knockdown Center.
LCD Soundsystem is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by James Murphy, who is also the co-founder of DFA Records. The band members include Murphy (vocals, various instruments), Nancy Whang (synthesizer, keyboards, vocals), Pat Mahoney (drums), Tyler Pope (bass, guitar, synthesizer), Al Doyle (guitar, synthesizer, percussion), Matt Thornley (guitar, synthesizer, percussion), and Korey Richey (synthesizer, piano, percussion).
LCD Soundsystem’s music has been described as alternative, dance-punk, dance-rock, electronic rock, electronica, art-rock, dance, post-punk revival, and indie rock.
They have been releasing music since 2002, resulting in their self-titled debut studio album in 2005. This album features one of their most known songs, “Losing My Edge,” and received a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album. After their third studio album reached top-ten in the US, LCD Soundsystem announced they would be disbanding after a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden on April 2, 2011. Not long after, they began hinting at rumors of a reunion in 2015 and released their first single in five years that December: “Christmas Will Break Your Heart.” Since their reunion, LCD Soundsystem has been recording singles and going on tour consistently.
