Metalcore band Asking Alexandria is setting out on their “Psycho Thunder” Tour, kicking off in San Antonio, TX on August 30. This tour comes right after the release of their eighth studio album, Where Do We Go from Here? which is set to release on August 25. Joining Asking Alexandria is The HU, a folk metal band from Mongolia, as well as special guests Bad Wolves and Zero 9:36. The “Psycho Thunder” Tour will hit Chicago on September 26 at the Riviera Theatre.
Asking Alexandria was formed when Ben Bruce, the lead guitarist, moved the project from Dubai to England, where he joined forces with original lead singer Danny Worsnop. They recorded their first album, Stand Up and Scream in 2009, singles from which have been certified gold in the US. Since then, the band has released six more studio albums, with another one on the way in late August.
The band is known for their changing sub genres and sound over the years. While their earlier sound can be described as electronicore, metalcore, and screamo, they have since shifted to focusing on rock and heavy metal. They have also matured their lyrics, deciding to write more mature and meaningful lyrics on their later albums. As for their latest album, Asking Alexandria is looking to the future. Of the title, Where Do We Go From Here, Worsnop has said “I think it’s an internal question we all have from time to time, especially for musicians who have been doing it 15 years. We kind of passed through a generation. The industry’s different. The world’s different. And we’ve gotta figure out, how the hell is this thing working now?”
Joining Asking Alexandria on the tour is The HU, who are known for their blend of folk metal with traditional Mongolian musical styles. They began releasing music on YouTube in 2018 and have since released two studio albums.
You can see Asking Alexandria and The HU at the Riviera Theatre on September 26. Tickets and more information are available here.
