Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Unveils Second Group of 2023 Lineup

(UPDATE 9/12/2023) Hardly Strictly Bluegrass has recently announced the fifth and final wave of scheduled performances for the upcoming free music festival. The newest additions to the event include Bettye LaVette, Big Richard, Buddy Miller, Cassandra Lewis, Dawes, deadramones, Della Mae, Dry Branch Fire Squad,  The Go To Hell Man Band, The Jerry Douglas Band, Jimmie Dale Gilmore & The West Texas Exiles, Jon Langford & The Bright Shiners, Laurie Lewis & The Right Hands, Lila Blue, Marco and the Polos, The McCrary Sisters, Never Come Down, New Monsoon, Olivia Wolf, Orchestra Gold, Peter Rowan, Purple Glaze, Raining Chainsaws, Shawn Camp & Verlon Thompson-Tribute to Guy Clark, Skyway Man, Sunny War, Taylor McCall, Tommy Emmanuel, and Vetiver. In addition to all of the new performers, festival organizers have also announced that Buddy Miller and those in his company will be showcased on Saturday, September 30th on the Rooster Stage. His company features Bettye LaVette, The McCray Sisters, Brennen Leigh, Shawn Camp and Verlon Thompson’s tribute to Guy Clark.

(UPDATE 9/6/2023) Hardly Strictly Bluegrass has come forward and announced its fourth wave of scheduled performances for the upcoming free event. Among the new artists announced includes The Teskey Brothers, Emmylou Harris, Shakey Graves, M.Ward, Hermanos Gutierrez, Bombino, Syd Straw, Elien Jewell, The SticklerPhonics and The Third Mind, who will be making their live debut appearance at the event. On top of the new additions, the music festival has also announced a tribute to the late Doc Watson’s 100th birthday, which will feature performances from Jack Lawrence, Mitch Greenhill, Nora Brown and more.

The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass music festival has recently announced its second wave of scheduled performances. The free music festival based in San Francisco is currently scheduled to take place from September 29th to the 31st. 

Festival organizers have recently announced the inclusion of a handful of new additions to the lineup. The new additions to the lineup includes Kurt Vile & The Violators, The Travelin’ McCourys, Lilly Hiatt, Beth Orton, Carrie Rodriguez, Mighty Poplar, Buffalo Nichols, Chuck Prophet, Lucero, The Mission Express and Nora Brown with Stephanie Coleman.

The newly revealed performances will be joining the previously announced acts, including Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Leyla McCalla, Bahamas, Gaby Moreno and many more. Both waves of performers were announced through teaser medley’s which can be found on HSB’s official website.

HSB23 has also announced that it would be making some changes to its stage locations in order to provide a better viewing and performing experience for both the audience and performers. For example, what was formerly known as the “Porch Stage” has been moved to another location within the venue and has been renamed to the “Arrow Stage”. 

“As a long-time festival goer and new member of the team, I could not be more excited to get back to the park this year.” said the new HSB Executive Director John Caldon. “With a fresh layout and new stages, including an intimate venue where live music will be presented for the first time ever, HSB23 promises to be a celebration of artists and community that will make your heart sing.”

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2023 is scheduled to take place from September 29th to the 31st in San Francisco, California at the Golden Gate Park.
