Tash Sultana at The Salt Shed on September 8

Australian singer-songwriter and “one person band” Tash Sultana is setting off on their 2023 North American tour, kicking off in San Diego on August 22. They will be making their way to Chicago for a show at The Salt Shed on September 8. This tour will come after the release of Sultana’s Sugar EP, which comes out on August 18.

Hailing from Melbourne, Tash Sultana was interested in music from a young age, when their grandfather gifted them a guitar at the age of three. From there, Sultana began performing at open mics, busking on the streets, and writing music until they were able to find success with the band Mindpilot, who broke up in 2012. The artist found solo success when their 2016 single, “Jungle,” went viral and amassed over 40 million views. Sultana then released their debut EP, Notion, through their own label in September of the same year.

Since then, Sultana has released two full studio albums, Flow State (2018) and Terra Firma (2021). Both albums have been praised for Sultana’s technical musical skill, as well as their ability to mix styles and genres. Sultana seamlessly incorporates aspects of psychedelic rock, reggae, soul, and RnB into their music, making it a very versatile listen.

This isn’t Sultana’s first time touring, either. They have been gallivanting across Europe, the UK, and Australia and North America since the beginning of their career in 2016. Sultana plays a long list of instruments live, including the guitar, trumpet, and keyboard, making for an incredible showcase for audiences.
