Boris & Melvins at Mohawk’s Austin on October 3rd!

Two iconic bands, Boris and Melvins, are co-headlining the stage at Mohawk’s Austin on October 3rd! With a combined album discography of over 70 studio albums, this show is bound to be full of surprises, style changes, and iconic performances! The lineup also includes opening act, MR. PHYLZZZ, who just recently released a new album. What better way to spend a Tuesday night than at Mohawk’s Austin?

Boris is a Japanese band that formed in 1992 with 3 stellar members. The band consists of Atuso on the drums, Takeshi on the guitar and bass and Wata on the keyboards and guitar. All three members contribute to the vocals for the band! Boris is actually named after a song from their co-headliners, Melvins. They are named after the song Boris on the Bullhead album. Not including their various live albums, EPs, singles, and 16 collaborative albums, Boris has released an impressive 29 studio albums since 1996. They released 3 albums in 2022 titled, W, Heavy Rocks and Fade. The public has a hard time categorizing Boris, and they like to keep it that way. With experiments in a magnitude of genres and 45 total albums to show for it, it’s impossible to put Boris into a genre box. In 2017, the band considered a hiatus, but their 2017 album, Dear, encouraged them to continue writing and performing because it is what they truly love. Their most recent collaboration album, Bright New Disease, with Uniform was released on June 16th, 2023!

Melvins is an American rock band from Washington. They played a massive role in the grunge and sludge metal scene growth. They have been the inspiration for many iconic bands, including Boris as well! The band formed in 1983 by current member Buzz Osboren and past members Matt Lukin and Mike Dillard. Melvins current lineup includes Osborne on the guitar and lead vocals, Dale Crover on the drums, percussion and backing vocals and Steven McDonald on the bass. Since the release of their first album, Gluey Porch Treatments, released in 1987, Melvins has released a spectacular 27 albums, Their most recent album, Bad Moon Rising, was released on September 30th, 2022. They have inspired so many artists by their music and ever changing style. They have ventured into many genres, but truly left their mark in the grunge and sludge metal scenes.
