TV Girl is coming to Emo’s Austin on September 22nd, 2023! The indie-pop band has just released their brand new album, Grapes Upon the Vine, on June 30th, 2023. They are excited to perform their brand new albums to their fans for the very first time on this brand new tour!
TV Girl originated in San Diego, California and consists of members Brad Petering, Jason Wyman and Wyatt Harmon. The band formed in 2010 and has since then released 7 albums available on all streaming services. Their creativity moves at a rapid pace and they continue to outdo themselves time and time again. They are known for their use of 1900’s pop culture references and classics within their music. They sample songs and media from the 1960s and add it into their music in unique ways.
Their 4 studio albums that are completely theirs include French Exit from 2014, Who Really Cares in 2016, Death of a Party Girl in 2018 and Grapes Upon the Vine just last month. Their debut EP was released in 2010 titled, “TV Girl EP”. The EP gained widespread attention with its clever use of samples from ’60s and ’70s pop classics, intertwined with lo-fi beats and soft vocals. Their true breakthrough came from their debut album, French Exit. The album gained critical acclaim for its witty lyrics, inventive sampling, and emotionally charged melodies. Tracks like “Birds Don’t Sing” and “Lovers Rock” became indie anthems. After several EPs and a second album titled Who Really Cares, TV Girl released their third full-length album, Death of a Party Girl, on May 8th, 2018. This record marked a noticeable shift in their sound, showcasing a more refined and mature side of the band.
Their newest album, Grapes Upon the Vine, can be described as “The sample-happy band adds gospel flavor to its chilled-out grooves”. Don’t miss your chance to hear TV Girl’s new album live!
