The 80’s rock band legend, Swans, are coming to the Paramount Theatre on September 3rd, 2023! The band formed in 1982 by current and long standing member, Michael Gira. The band has made a huge impact in the rock community and have inspired many bands that have come after them. From 1997 to 2009, fans thought they would never be able to see Swans live again, but after a remarkable reunion, the band is still going strong. Come celebrate Swan’s brand new album, The Beggar, live at Paramount Theatre!

The current lineup of the band includes founder Michael Gira on lead vocals, guitar and base, Kristof Hahn on guitar, lap steel guitar and backing vocals, Christopher Pravdica on bass guitar and backing vocals, Phil Puleo and Larry Mullins on drums and percussions and Dana Schechter on bass guitar and keyboards. Schechter is the newest member of the band and joined in 2020. Swans is recognized for the way they change their sound with time and continue to progress within the music industry, no matter the climate. They are known for their experimentation in noise rock, industrial rock, post-rock and post-punk. At first glance, they can be described as pushing boundaries with their use of brutality and controversial lyrics throughout their music, but their music also has unique melodies and messages within it.

The band released 10 successful albums before their split in 1997. These albums include their first album, Filth, an extremely popular album, Children of God, and their hit album before their hiatus, Soundtracks for the Blind. After 13 years, the band rejoined and have since then released 6 albums. Their comeback album was titled My Father Will Guide Me up a Rope to the Sky. Fans were elated to have their favorite rock band back in action and the album made noise within the rock world. One of their most prominent tours ended in November of 2017 for their 14th studio album, The Glowing Man. Their 15th album, Leaving Meaning, was an album that comforted fans through the thick of COVID-19 and got fans excited for the opportunity to one day see their favorite band live again. Within the same year, a documentary about the band was released titled, “Where Does a Body End?”

In more recent news, on January 6th, 2023, Gira announced on Instagram that their next album would be a fundraiser album and it sold out in just over a week. The title of the album was revealed on March 22nd, 2023, just three months before its official release. On June 23rd, 2023, Swans released their 16th official studio album, The Beggar. The Beggar includes the hit single, “Paradise of Mine.”

Tickets for the show are now available on Paramount Theatres official website. Orchestra tickets are going for $45, Mezzanine is going for $35 to $45 and balcony tickets are going for $20 to $35. Don’t miss your chance to see this incredible show and hear The Beggar live for the first time!
