It’s been 20 years since Yellowcard’s iconic album, Ocean Avenue, came out. To honor this, the band is embarking on a celebratory tour to highlight their most successful album to date! Yellowcard is coming to Austin, Texas, this month on July 26th! This show is only 4 days after the 20th anniversary of Ocean Avenue so it is guaranteed to be a great show! The band will be playing at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater with opening acts This Wild Life and Emo Night Brooklyn.
Yellowcard is a known pop-punk group, but their music adds distinct sounds from multiple genres and the use of unique instruments. They use a lot of violin in their songs and venture into rock genres frequently. Ocean Avenue’s first single, “Way Away” was Yellowcards ticket to mainstream success. The song did extremely well and peaked at number 25 in the modern rock charts in 2003. The song got people excited to hear the full album that it came from and on July 22nd, 2003, Ocean Avenue was released to an excited public.
In all, the band has released 10 studio albums. Their most recent album is self titled Yellowcard, and it was released on September 30th, 2016. After touring Yellowcard the band broke up. That is until September of 2022 to perform together at Rio Fest for the first time in 6 years! Fans weren’t sure if this was the end of the reunion or if it was just getting started. Lucky for them, Yellowcard announced their new tour for the 20th anniversary of beloved Ocean Avenue. In addition to a new tour, the band is also making new music! They have a new EP titled Childhood Eyes coming out on July 21st, 2023, only 5 days before the Austin show!
