Reggae-rock band Dirty Heads is setting off on their latest tour this summer to promote their new EPs and their recent album Midnight Control. The “Island Glow” tour will be stopping in Chicago on July 7 at Radius.

Dirty Heads was founded in 2006 by Jared Watson and Dustin Bushnell after they met at a party in high school. Inspired by Orange County’s ska scene, the duo started to write reggae songs with hip-hop infusions and eventually recorded a demo, Dirty Demo. Their debut album was released 2008 under producers Steve Fox and Stan Frazier.

The band has since released nine studio albums in the reggae-rock genre. Frontman Jared Watson has described their music as being inspired by ska band Sublime, but with a new, more modern twist. A lot of their influences come from the “Cali Roots” culture that the founders grew up with, and a dedication to keeping their genre alive.

Over the COVID- 19 pandemic, Dirty Heads found success performing their old albums over livestream on social media. Fans were ecstatic that they were able to hear their favorite songs acoustically in a time of need. Now, the band is excited to get back to performing live in what they have predicted will be their “best set and best show” they’ve put on.

The tour comes fresh off the heels of the band’s 2022 album Midnight Control and the subsequent EPs that came out of the same era. Dirty Heads have said that they are feeling a surge of creativity in this era that they are excited to channel into their stage presence.
