City and Colour to perform at The Moody Theater on September 13th!

The creative genius, City and Colour is making a stop in Austin, Texas as he embarks on his brand new tour The folk singer will be taking the Moody Theater stage on September 13th and it is guaranteed that he will play songs off of his hit new album, The Love Still Held Me Near. As his 7th album hit streaming services, fans were reminded how much they can relate to City and Colour’s music.

The nickname, City and Colour, was actually self-given by the singer Dallas Green. Green wasn’t particularly comfortable releasing music under his true name when he first started creating solo music. He cleverly came up with the nickname City and Colour because Dallas is a city and Green is a color. The singer is from Canada and is also a member of the band Alexisonfire.

Green made his solo career a more gentle, acoustic folk genre of music, opposite of Alexisonfire, which is categorized as producing more hardcore and screamo music. He learned to play the piano at a very young age and began to write music in his early teenage years. When he started his solo career, music lovers around the world were intrigued with his “emo-folk” style and were excited to hear more from the soloist

In 2005, Green debuted his first solo album, Sometimes. The album was released without a hitch on October 4th and includes the hit song “Comin’ Home.” Green’s two most popular songs come from his second album, Bring Me Your Love. Bring Me Your Love was released on April 7th, 2009 and according to Apple Music, his two most well known songs are included on this album. “The Girl” and “Sleeping Sickness” received great numbers and the album went double platinum. His 3rd album, Little Hell, did significantly well, as well as his next two albums, The Hurry and the Harm and If I Should Go Before You. Green took a 4 year break and then released his next album, A Pill For Loneliness, on October 4th, 2019. The album had different imagery and graphic style than any of his previous albums and caught the eye of many new fans.

Just last month, Green released a brand new album under City and Colour nearly 4 years after the release of A Pill For Loneliness. His 7th studio album, The Love Still Held Me Near, is arguably one of his best works and explores the deepest parts of Green’s soul. It is an extremely personal album and tackles difficult topics, especially those surrounding loss and loneliness. Don’t miss your chance to see City and Colour as he tours the United States and sings his heart out. Tickets are marked at $35 to $45 for any seat in the venue. Tickets are available here.
