The Japanese House is coming to Emo’s Austin on November 10th

The Japanese House, legally named Amber Bain, is coming to Austin, Texas for her newly announced tour on November 10th! The tour is in celebration of her new album that will be released this month. Head down to Emo’s in Austin to catch this stellar show on a beautiful Friday night.

Bain is an English indie pop musician who has made a name for herself by not even using her name at all. Bain originally started making music under the name The Japanese House in early 2012. Bain chose this specific stage name because she did not feel ready to reveal herself to the public and be defined by her gender and name. She gathered inspiration for the stage name from a property her and her family would vacation at in Cornwall, England. Bain now sings the vocals and plays guitar, synthesizer and keyboard in all of her original music.

She released her first EP, Pools to Bathe In, on April, 27th, 2015. Her first single on the EP, “Still,” did extremely well and was met with public success. Her second EP, Clean, was released on November 6th, 2015. Both EPs were categorized as indie pop and synth-pop, but they also include notes of electropop, folktronica and dream pop. Her third EP had a faintly different sound. The third EP by Blain, Swim Against the Tide, came out on November 11th, 2016. The EP was influenced by sounds from the 80s and a little bit of techno pop. Bain describes the EP as one with feelings of falling in love and losing someone. Her fourth EP, Saw You In a Dream, was released on June 30th, 2017. The song “Saw You In A Dream” from the EP is still her most popular song on Apple Music. This EP experimented in the rock and electronica genres.

Her first full length album came out on March 1st, 2019 with 13 songs. The album was titled, Good at Falling, and includes the hit singles, “Maybe You’re the Reason” and “Lilo.” A short 4 months later, Bain released her fifth EP, The LA Sessions, that had live recordings of 4 singles, “Lilo,” “Somebody You Found,” You Seemed So Happy” and “Everybody Hates Me,” sang in Los Angeles. Since the album she has released another EP, Chewing Cotton Wool, that was released on August 12th of 2020.

On March 20th, 2023, Bain released the first single, Boyhood,” on her upcoming second album. She announced the brand new album on April 18th and told the world that it would be titled In The End It Always Does. The album is set to be released on June 30th, 2023 and fans are so excited for its arrival. Don’t miss your chance to hear The Japanese House live!
