Interpol have announced two shows at the Greek Theatre set for late October 2023. The news follows the band’s announcement of the North American leg of their tour set for this fall.
The New York-based band shared a list of North American shows they are set to perform this fall with dates with The Smashing Pumpkins and headlining shows. Currently in their European and U.K. tour the band is set to return to the states on August 11 with a show at Outside Lands in San Francisco, CA. Surprising fans online, Interpol shared that they will return to Los Angeles with two consecutive shows at the Greek Theatre late October. Interpol is set to be joined by special guests Jean Dawson and Mareux on Sunday, October 29 while The Red Pears and DannyLux will join the group on Monday, October 30.
The tour falls nearly a year from the release of the band’s seventh studio album The Other Side of Make-Believe. The Other Side of Make-Believe began remotely across 2020. In early 2021, Interpol reconvened to flesh out new material at a rented home in the Catskills, before completing it later that year in North London, working for the first time with production veteran Flood (Mark Ellis), as well as teaming up again with former co-producer Alan Moulder. The album breaks fresh ground for the group: parallel to exploring the sinister undercurrents of contemporary life, Interpol’s new songs are imbued with pastoral longing and newfound grace.
Formed in 1997, Interpol is one of the bands that emerged from the post-punk revival of the 2000s. Their 2002 debut album Turn On The Bright Lights was critically acclaimed reaching No. 1 on NME’s Top Albums of the Year and No. 1 on Pitchfork’s Top 50 Albums of the Year. The band continued to receive great commercial success with their proceeding albums until taking a three year hiatus following their fourth self-titled studio album. In 2014, the band returned with their fifth studio album El Pintor. The band is often compared to Joy Division and other post-punk and indie artists. Interpol is Daniel Kessler, Samuel Fogarino and Paul Banks.
