Indie pop trio, Cannons, is starting a brand new tour and are stopping in Austin, Texas, on September 20th! The band is embarking on their Heartbeat Highway Tour with opening acts Two Another and Jane Leo. The band just released a new single last month and fans are excited to hear it live!
Cannons was formed in 2013 by two childhood friends who loved music. Members Ryan Clapham and Paul Davis began making music together as teenagers and had the dream of creating their own band. The two saw an advertisement that Michelle Joy posted about her musical skills on Craiglist, so Clapham and Davis reached out to her. She soon became the band’s frontwoman and lead vocalist. Clapham plays the guitar and Davis plays the keyboards and bass. The band’s music can be described as combining elements of indie rock, electronica, disco and funk.
On September 1st, 2014, the band released their first EP titled, Up All Night, that gained the band traction. Their first album, Night Drive, was released on May 12th, 2017. Their major-label debut came with their release of their second album, Shadows, on July 12th, 2019. One of the singles off the album, “Fire for You,” reached acclaimed success and reached #1 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart! Since then, the band has released another successful album on March 25th, 2022, titled Fever Dream.
In the most recent news, Cannons released a brand new single on April 13th, 2023. The single is called “Loving You” and on their official Twitter they stated that it is “the first taste of (their) new music that (they) will be dropping this year”! The show still has tickets available on Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater’s official website. General admission tickets are $28, but you can also buy a ticket at the venue the day of the show for $35. The band is also having a meet and greet that costs $95 dollars!
