Grammy award nominee, 6lack, is coming to Austin, Texas on his upcoming tour, Since I Have A Lover Tour! It has been 5 years since 6lack went on tour and he has expressed so much enthusiasm about being on the road again. The tour was just announced on April 25th of this year and 6lack will be in Austin on October 22nd, 2023.
6lack, formally known as Ricardo Valdez Valentine Jr., is a singer and rapper born in Maryland but grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. 6lack’s first experiences in a recording studio came at a very young age. In his youth, he used to visit his father’s recording studio and let his creativity flow within it. He began rapping at junior high age and would rap battle with many other aspiring rappers around him. His passion for music did not stop after high school. 6lack moved to Miami to chase his dream of creating music, even when he did not have the funds for it. It is said that he spent nights sleeping in recording studios and even the street after moving to Miami for his record label.
6lack started seeing a rise to fame in 2016 when the Rolling Stone named him one of the “10 New Artists You Need to Know.” He released his debut album, Free 6lack, on November 18th, 2016. The album is an R&B/Soul album and includes the hit songs “PRBLMS” and “Ex Calling.” The album reached number 34 on the Billboard 200 chart that year!The single, “PRBLMS,” peaked at #73 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became 6lack’s first platinum single. After a successful release of his first album, 6lack released his second album, East Atlanta Love Letter, on September 14th, 2018. The album included musical appearances from popular artists such as J Cole, Future, Khalid and Offset.
One of 6lack’s most iconic singles is “OTW” featuring Khalid and Ty Dolla $ign. The song reached many young rap and R&B fans and is one of his most streamed songs. The song reached number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2019 6lack won an MTV Video Music Award for Best R&B Video for “Waves”!
Most recently, 6lack has just released a new album, which is the reason for this new and exciting tour. The album is titled Since I Have A Lover and was released on streaming platforms on March 24th, 2023.
