Texas born and raised and Austin local, Parker McCollum, will be hitting the Moody Center stage on October 27th, 2023! McCollum loves Texas, and Texas loves him, so these Texas stops on the tour are going to be near and dear to his heart. This tour is dedicated to his newest album that came out this month and fans are so excited to hear it live! You don’t want to miss seeing this country star in the city he has lived in for so long!
McCollum was born in Conroe, Texas and attended high school within the area. As young as elementary school age, McCollum took an interest in music and learned how to play the violin for his elementary school orchestra. At age 13, he learned how to play guitar and started writing his own music. He gravitated toward Texas country music specifically and gained inspiration from Texas icons, such as George Strait. Later in high school he started playing at local venues around Conroe and College Station while still attending school. After graduation, he moved to Austin for college and to be around the lively music scene. Two years after graduation, he released his first EP, A Red Town View, on November 19th, 2013. Next, he released his first ever studio album titled The Limestone Kid. The album was recorded right here in Austin at Cedar Creek Recording. Throughout the album, McCollum shows his skills in vocals, harmonica and acoustic guitar. The album caught the attention of the Austin public and got reviewed by The Austin Chronicle positively. The album alludes to his personal experiences about growing up in Texas and the small county of Limestone County, Texas. Him and his band went on a Texas tour to support the album which included stops in Austin, San Marcos and College Station!
After a successful album release and tour, McCollum released an EP titled Probably Wrong: Session One on July 7th of 2017. The EP appeared on the Billboard charts and gained commercial and radio success. Two months later on September 8th, he released the EP Probably Wrong Session Two, a continuation of the first EP. The Probably Wrong album, a formulation from both EPs, was released within the next month on November 10th. 3 years later he released his next successful EP, Hollywood Gold, on October 16th, 2020, and included hit song, “Pretty Heart.”
Fans were itching for a new album by McCollum. He released his third official album, Gold Chain Cowboy, on October 20th, 2021. Although already popular within Texas, McCollum’s fame became national and he started to gain traction within the country music industry. In March 2022, he won New Male Artist of the Year and the American Country Music awards and played in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo within the same month. Just within the next year, in February 2023, he was the headlining opening night performance for the Houston Rodeo. McCollum went from playing local college venues to the NRG Stadium with more than 73,000 audience members in just 5 years.
More recently, McCollum just released his 4th studio album, Never Enough, on May 12th, 2023. The CMT Music Award winner will be playing large venues across the country all throughout the year and country music fans couldn’t be more excited.
