Local Natives are coming to Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater on September 16th

Indie Rock legends, Local Natives, is hitting the Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater stage on September 16th! The Time Will Wait For No One Tour was announced earlier this month and tickets went on sale to the public on May 12th. The tour is dedicated to their new album coming out in July and will include special guest HalfNoise. Indie rock fans in Austin do not want to miss the opportunity to see this amazing band live!

Local Natives formed in 2005 in Los Angeles and currently has six members. Taylor Rice is the vocals and guitar for the band, Kelcey Ayers also adds vocals as well as keyboard and guitar, Ryan Hahn plays guitar and adds backing vocals, Matt Frazier mans the drums and Nik Ewing plays the bass for the band. Their debut album hit the shelves in the UK in 2009 but did not reach the U.S. until February 16th, 2010. It is titled Gorilla Manor and it received positive feedback from the public. It made the Billboard 200 list and put Local Natives name in the eyes of the public. 3 years later they released their second album, Hummingbird, in January of 2013. The band is known for their charismatic collaboration between all the members when it comes to creating their music. They use their past experiences and memories to curate songs that have a deep or personal meaning to them. Their first album was even named after the house they all shared in Orange County, California!

Local Natives has a special connection with the city of Austin and a lot of their history starts in this city. Their first interaction with acclaimed music press came after they played nine shows at SXSW festival in 2009 in the streets of Austin. Their performances caused attention and made them a band to see for local Austin music enthusiasts. In 2013, it was announced at Austin City Limits that their current bassist, Nik Ewing, would be joining the band full time. It is so special that the band decided to share that exciting news with the people of Austin while jamming out in Zilker Park!

Since their 2013 performance at ACL, Local Natives has released 2 more successful albums. Their third studio album, Sunlit Youth, was released on September 9th, 2016, and their 4th album, Violet Street, was released on April 26th, 2016. They have been hard at work since the release of their 4th album. They released the EP, Sour Lemon, in October of 2020 and participated in a livestream concert in 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In exciting news, the band will be releasing a new album for the first time in 7 years this summer! The album is called Time Will Wait For No One and it is to be released on July 7th. They have already released 4 singles on the album and has grown the anticipation for their fans by the day. The singles on the album already available for streaming are titled “Just Before The Morning,” “Desert Snow,” “Hourglass” and “NYE.” Tickets are still available on Stubb’s official website! Prices are $40 for advances general admission, $45 for day of show general admission tickets, and VIP tickets are also available.
