The Rock Sound Award winners, Waterparks, will be performing their brand new album, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, at Emo’s Austin on June 7th and June 8th for a 2 night special! The shows will have special opening acts HUNNY and Sophie Powers getting the audience excited before Waterparks comes on. In honor of their new album, the tour is titled The Property Tour and has 30 stops, with three stops in Texas including Dallas, Austin and their hometown, Houston!

Waterparks is an American rock band formed in Houston, Texas in 2011. The band was formed by current member Awsten Knight and former member Gage Matthieu when they met while both playing in different bands. Matthieu left the band in 2012, but current members now include Knight on lead vocals and guitar, Geoff Wigington on lead guitar and backup vocals and Otto Wood on the drums and backing vocals. Wigington and Wood both joined the band in 2012 and continue to be a huge part of it to this day. Houston, Texas plays a huge role in the bands past. After the release of their first EP, Airplane Conversations, was released on April 3rd, 2012, the band played their first ever live show at Warehouse Live in Houston on August 17th, 2012. They continued to grow in Texas and performed at many local venues in Texas throughout the following years. They also got the opportunity to play at the Houston dates of the famous “Warped Tour” in 2013 and 2015. Their second EP, Black Light, was released on June 4th, 2014 and their 3rd EP, Cluster, was released on January 15th, 2016. The bassist of My Chemical Romance plays the bass for the Cluster EP!

With 3 successful EPs, the band was ready to release their debut album. They released the single, “Stupid For You” in August of 2016 that got the anticipation started for the release of their first album. They released two more singles from the album before releasing it on November 3rd, 2016. The album, Double Dare, landed them the opportunity to play at every location of the Warped Tour in 2016! Their 2nd album, Entertainment, was released on January 26th, 2018 and reach #98 on the Billboard 200 chart 2 weeks after release. The band saw even more success when they released the first single off of their 3rd album, “Turbulent” in May of 2019. The song won “Best Song of the Year” in 2019 at the Rock Sound Awards. Their third and most popular album, FANDOM, was released on October 11th, 2019. They released their 4th album, Greatest Hits, on May 21st, 2021.

Waterparks did not stop after a successful 4th album. On January 27th of 2022, the band teased a 5th studio album in the works. They released their first single off the album, titled “Funeral Grey,” on May 13th, 2022. 9 months after teasing the album, they finally announced the name of their 5th album, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. The album was released just last month on April 14th, 2023! Don’t miss your chance to hear Waterparks old hits as well as their brand new album live in person!
