Tove Lo is hitting the Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater with special guest, Slayyyter! On February 8th, Tove Lo announced the US dates for her brand new tour, Dirt Femme Tour, that would be taking place in May. Austin received a show scheduled for May 21st and fans couldn’t be more excited! The tour is dedicated to her newest album released on October 14th, 2022, Dirt Femme.
Tove Lo is a 35-year old singer and songwriter born and raised in Sweden. She got her stage name from a nickname her grandmother gave her at 3 years old. She has reached international fame since starting her solo career in 2012. Although known for being a world-renowned pop singer, her music is full of raw, honest, and complex lyrics and grunge-influence. She is sometimes tokened as “the saddest girl in Sweden.” Her first single as a solo artist is titled “Love Ballad” and was released in October of 2012. In 2013, she released her second single, “Habits,” which brought her more popularity than she could’ve ever imagined. She grew an immense following online and caught the attention of many record labels. She was offered her first recording deal a few months later. Most of her previous fame was international, but after the buzz from “Habits,” Lo started to play in America. Her first American show was at Austin’s very own South by Southwest.
Her first Ep was released on March 3rd, 2014 titled, Truth Serum, and reached #13 in Sweden. “Habits” was renamed “Habits (Stay High)” and was added to the EP and contributed to the EPs success. Hippie Sabotage remixed it and the remix peaked at #6 in the UK and #3 in the US. She also made her debut on live television singing “Habits (Stay High)” on Late Night with Seth Meyers! Her debut album soon followed after her rise to fame. Queen of the Clouds was released on September 24th, 2014. The album debuted at #14 in the US Billboard 200 chart and received Platinum certification by the RIAA. Her second album, Lady Wood, also charted in the US Billboard 200 at #11. The sequel to Lady Wood, was released 3 years later on November, 17th, 2017, titled, Blue Lips (Lady Wood Phase II).
Tove Lo started her very own label and released her single “No One Dies From Love” on May 3rd, 2022. This was her debut song as an independent artist since her solo career started. On June 21st of 2022, she announced that her 5th studio album would be released on October 14th, 2022. The album is titled Dirt Femme and has lyrics that express femininity, body positivity and how she stays rooted in herself while experiencing fears of losing herself. The album includes hit songs such as “2 Die 4” and “Grapefruit.” She has written songs for the Divergent series, the Hunger Games series and Fifty Shades Darker! If you don’t know who Tove Lo is, you could still recognize her voice because she has been a part of so many iconic pop culture moments.
Even after an intense surgery on her vocal cords in 2015, Tove Lo has continued to make incredible music and tour the world. She has opened up for household named artists such as Katy Perry, Maroon 5, ColdPlay and Dua Lipa! You don’t want to miss an amazing performance from this pop sensation.
