Dark, heart-stopping intensity
Metal band The Crooked Whispers are known for their dark music. Now, the group has released their latest album Funeral Blues. As a whole, the heart-stopping instrumentation fills the atmosphere with amazing sound and the vocal performance gives each track an extra kick of intensity. Funeral Blues proves that The Crooked Whispers are capable of creating solid music.
Opening track “Suicide Castle” welcomes listeners to the band’s demonic work with blazing guitar riffs. Right at the beginning, heavy riffs sizzle the air with great authority and each note bringing the desire to head bang while the speaker blares. “Suicide Castle” consists of killer guitar playing.
“Funeral Blues” is a rather interesting track as there is more of a rock vibe thanks to the dynamic drum playing. Throughout the whole piece each drum beat not only contributes to the lingering mayhem, each beat follows a simple tempo. “Funeral Blues” features wonderful drum playing that leans more into the rock genre but nonetheless remains an integral part of the album as a whole.
“DeathMaker” is a doom-filled composition which has the bass guitar shaking the background with vibrating riffs that are capable of jolting the veins of listeners. The vibrations from each riff imbues “DeathMaker” with heart pounding noise many fans will appreciate.
Wicked “Crippled Shadow” is a dark ditty which features incredible instrumentation. However, what really shines brightly on the track is the vocal performance. The strong emotions of anger can be felt through the powerful vocals and the shrieking gives an insight of how serious the theme on “Crippled Shadow” is to the band. This song is top-notch, showcasing the vocalist’s musical prowess.
Funeral Blues is filled with high-quality metal music and The Crooked Whispers undoubtedly have their feet on the gas pedal with their latest release.
