70s Pop Rock band, Sparks, deliver new track, “Veronica Lake”, an homage to old Hollywood actress, Veronica Lake, which serves as the second track to the group’s upcoming album, The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte. This will be the band’s 26th studio album, set to release on Friday, May 26 and will be released under Island Records.
“As the blond wavy hair, millions partake, and they fancy themselves Veronica Lake”.
This whimsical synth-pop track is not only a tribute to the life and career of Veronica Lake, but also a recounting of what American life was like during the prime of her career.
A listening experience like that of watching a period piece, perfectly capturing the glamor and mystique that Hollywood once was to the average person. Veronica Lake is supposed to represent the unattainable image and escape from the realities of a country falling apart, the lyrics detailing, “In the midst of a war, we all must partake of our fantasy world, give us all a break, and their fantasy girl who they imitate, is their number one choice, Veronica Lake”.
In support of their forthcoming album, the band will be doing an extensive spring summer world tour with their first stop being May 23 in Oxford, UK at New Theatre Oxford. Traveling throughout Europe from May through June, Sparks will come to the states June 27 in New York City at Beacon Theatre. The tour will conclude in Japan where the group will be performing three shows, with the last date being July 25 in Tokyo, Japan at Line Cube Shibuya.
