On Saturday, April 29th, an incredible lineup of artists are coming together to celebrate the grand opening of Lakeline Park in Austin Texas! Lightstream Presents and KUTX 98.9 have teamed up to put on a concert series in honor of the new park with the City of Cedar Park Parks & Recreation Department. The concert series is also celebrating KUTX’s 10th Birthday! The one-day festival will feature food trucks, an exquisite beer garden and multiple bars accessible for attendees. The 200-acre Lakeline Park just opened phase one to the public at the end of March 2023. The park includes three miles of trails, an exciting playground, kayak and canoe rentals, a fishing pier, sports fields and ample public restrooms and parking. Come see an immaculate performance by A Giant Dog, an intimate and acoustic performance by Soul Asylum, and series headliner Dinosaur Jr. in Lakeline Park’s brand new performing arts pavilion on April 29th!
A Giant Dog is a beloved local punk rock band that formed in 2008. Members include Sabrina Ellis on vocals, Andrew Cashen on vocals and guitar, Andy Bauer on guitar, Daniel Blanchard on drums and Graham Low on bass guitar. Their music style can be described as rock and alternative with a punk feel. Their unique fashion, style and album artwork draws people into their image as a whole. A Giant Dog has 5 official studio albums and one official EP. Their most popular song, “I’ll Come Crashing” from their 2016 album, Pile, has over 3.8 million streams on Spotify! Soul Asylum is a multifaceted rock band formed in 1981. Their music can be placed into many rock genres including, but not limited to, alternative rock, country rock, pop rock, punk rock, indie rock and grunge. The band’s 40 years of success has gained them honorable awards and loyal fans from across the globe. In 1992, the band released their 6th studio album, Grave Dancers Union, that reached triple-platinum status and sparked massive buzz in the United States. Just 3 months later, the band played at President Bill Clinton’s inauguration at the United States Capital. In 1993, the band won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song for their hit song, “Runaway Train” on Grave Dancers Union. Their 7th studio album, Let You Dim Light Shine, also scored platinum status just three years later! The band recently released their latest album, Hurry Up and Wait, on April 17th, 2020 and a 2022 remastered version of Grave Dancers Union to celebrate its 30th anniversary on September 30th, 2022. Headliners, Dinosaur Jr., are an alternative rock band originally from Massachusetts. Their music style can be considered alternative on the broader spectrum, but you can hear their passion of classic rock influence within their music. The use of feedback, extreme volumes and dynamic between quiet and loud vocals in their music leaves an audience mesmerized. Current members include J Mascis on lead vocals, keyboards and guitar, Lou Barlow on bass and backing vocals and Murph on the drums. Their discography includes 12 studio albums and 4 live albums!
