Linkin Park Bassist, Dave Farrell, is hopeful in the band releasing new material when asked in recent interview with Duffy on Z93 radio station. Although Farrell is sure the band will reunite to make new music, he states, “The reality of it is that the timetable, I have no idea what that is or what that looks like, and we’re not trying or haven’t made any progress toward doing it”.
The band has been on a hiatus since their 2017 album, One More Light, and the tragic death of fellow bandmate and lead singer, Chester Bennington. Not only being on a music break since 2017, the group’s last live performance was the tribute concert held for Bennington in October 2017. In 2019, group co-vocalist, Mike Shinoda, denied any rumors of the band looking for a new lead singer and in a recent People Magazine interview that the group is not interested is not interested in performing on-stage with any hologram of Bennington.
Despite Farrell’s hopeful comments for the band’s return, Shinoda wants it to be known that there is nothing currently in the works for Linkin Park. Stating in Twitch livestream, “There’s no tours, there’s no music, there’s no albums in the pipeline. Okay, so let me just tell you that. So just keep in your mind that that is not happening”.
Although the band may have apprehension about creating and releasing new material, Farrell speaks on the closeness the band still has with each other stating, “The relationship in the band is still intact between all the guys and we’re still in communication, but everybody is always in different kinds of spaces. And the amount of earth that needs to be moved to begin the construction project of Linkin Park and whatever that may look like is a ton, and it’s not going anywhere fast”. With the future of what is to come from Linkin Park still being unclear even from the members themselves, fans can be assured that their bond remains.
