Catch Silverstein at Mohawk-Austin on April 14th

The time has come to finally see Silverstein live at the Mohawk in Austin, Texas! This tour is dedicated to their most recently released album, Misery Made Me. Just as the album suggests, this tour will be the live vocalization of anxieties, frustrations and struggles of life. Special guests and opening acts of this lively show include Dayseeker, SeeYouSpaceCowboy and One Step Closer!

Silverstein’s music has been described as a combination of emo, post-hardcore, screamo, indie rock and hardcore punk. The band formed in February of 2000 and only 6 years later went on their first headlining tour, Never Shave Again Tour. Current members include Josh Bradford on rhythm guitar, Paul Koehler on drums and percussion, Shane Told as lead vocalist and bass guitarist, Billy Hamilton on bass guitar and backup vocals and Paul Rousseau on lead guitar. The band has 10 studio albums, with their 9th album, A Beautiful Place to Drown, winning the Juno Award for Rock Album of the Year!

In their earlier years, Silverstein was known for promoting their music via MySpace and connecting with their fans virtually in unique ways. Now, they are extremely active on social media sites like Tik Tok and Twitch. They have even dabbled in the metaverse to discuss their newest album! They are always finding new ways to connect with their fans and give them unique experiences that cannot be found with any other music group.

Misery Made Me was released on May 6th, 2022, but not without the release of a few anticipated singles first. On April 15th, 2021, they released the first single on the album, “Bankrupt,” and released another single, “It’s Over,” on November 18th of the same year. According to Mohawnaustin.com, Paul Rousseau describes “It’s Over” as the “spiral that leads to giving up.” After a one week buildup, Silverstein released the 3rd album single, “Ultraviolet,” in February of 2022 along with the announcement of the release of Misery Made Me. It is described as a song about struggling with mental health and “it serves as a sort of ‘proof’ that something invisible like anxiety can hurt us,” according to Rousseau for Mohawk Austin. The deluxe version of Misery Made Me comes out on April 7th and it includes two new songs! The songs are titled “Stitches and “Poison Pill,” which is out now to listen to! It also includes an orchestral version of “Mary,” acoustic versions of “Don’t Wait Up” and “Poison Pill,” and live recordings from Toronto of  “Bankrupt” and “It’s Over.”

Misery Made Me is such a special album filled with vulnerability and feelings one cannot express through words. Don’t miss a chance to see Silverstein NEXT WEEK on Friday, April 14th at Mohawk Austin. The concert is outdoors, so check the weather and dress accordingly! You can find available tickets on any resale website.
