Peter Gabriel is Coming to the Moody Center on October 18th

On March 7th, 2023, Peter Gabriel announced his new tour “i/o- The Tour” and Austin, Texas was sad to see that they did not make it as a stop on the tour. To our excitement, Gabriel added more tour stops on March 21st including Texas cities! He will now be coming to Austin, Dallas and Houston. Tickets went on sale for these shows on March 24th on Ticketmaster.com and many still remain there available for purchase!

Peter Gabriel has been a part of the music scene since 1967, when he became the lead singer of Genesis. In 1975, he left the band to start a solo career. His first single as a solo artist was called, “Solsbury Hill,” and it made headway for a successful solo career. His most recent creative project is his 10th studio album, i/o. This will be his first album full of all original songs in over 20 years! As you can see from Peter Gabriel’s personal twitter, this album is extremely special to him.

The release process for this album is one full of detail and anticipation, as Gabriel only releases a song from the album on every full or new moon. He has stated that this album will have two different versions; a dark-side and a bright-side. Dark-side is mixed by a talented mix engineer by the name of Tchad Blake. The bright-side of the album is mixed by another talented mix engineer, Mark Stent. There has been so much thought put into this album that the anticipation surrounding its full release is high.

On January 6th, Gabriel released his first new song since 2016, “Panopticom,” which is the first single to be released from the new album. According to his social media, “Panopticom” has been an idea Gabriel has been working on to “initiate the creation of an infinitely expandable accessible data globe.” The aim is to “allow the world to see itself better and understand more of what’s really going on.” The next song was released on February 20th titled, “The Court.” Most recently he has released the song, “Playing for Time,” just this past week on March 21st. Gabriel describes this song to be about “time, mortality and memories and the idea that each of us has a planet full of memories which get inside the brain.” He has admitted to performing this song live before but without the words so it may sound familiar to fans!
