Just yesterday, on March 27th, John Mayer announced new fall dates for his Solo Tour. He will now be coming to Austin on November 1st with special guest, JPSAXE! The Solo Tour started on March 11th, 2023, but Texas was not a part of the original tour locations.
With his 8th studio album released in 2021, Sob Rock, John Mayer has had quite the journey throughout many genres of music. His earlier records could be described as acoustic rock, but as he has progressed, his music has turned towards the rock and blues style. His most recent album is categorized as more of a pop feel, but nonetheless, his range of music can be enjoyed by all different types of music fans.
This Connecticut singer attended Berklee College of Music and music has been a part of his life since he was young. He got his start in 2001 after getting noticed by Aware Records after performing at the South by Southwest festival here in Austin, Texas. In the same year, he released his first studio album, Room for Squares, that included the hit song, “Your Body Is a Wonderland.” Just two years later, he released his album, Heavier Things, and the single, “Daughters” was heard on radio stations across the globe. His next album in 2006, Continuum, took his career to the next level as multiple songs on that album, including “Gravity” and “Waiting on the World to Change,” made him a household name.
His newest album, Sob Rock, was released on July 16th, 2021. Mayer states that this album came to life for him in the midst of COVID-19. The album is a reflection of songs that he grew up on in the 80s. This album is a little bit different than anything he has released before and it will be an exciting album to hear live!
