Hoboken-based indie band Yo La Tengo will be playing at Union Transfer on Friday, March 17th. With influences of the Kinks, the Velvet Underground and My Bloody Valentine, Yo La Tengo has been known as the quintessential indie rock band and maintains a strong cult following.

Founded in 1984 by Ira Kaplan (guitars, piano, vocals) and Georgia Hubley (drums, piano, vocals), the couple chose the band name Yo La Tengo which is Spanish for “I have it”. In February 2023, Yo La Tengo released their seventeenth studio album This Stupid World, their first album mixed by themselves without any outside input.
