Album Review: Hammock – Love in the Void

Comforting, Captivating and Dreamlike

Hammock’s newly released album, Love in the Void, is a blissful soundtrack full of ambient sounds and melodies. The music is relaxing and meditative, while managing to create intricate feelings of empathy and comfort. The periodic moments of orchestral music throughout the album causes the listener to picture the musician playing the instrument heard, and when the short vocal breaks appear, it instantly brings to mind the people behind the music. Another human quality the music has is its essence of a heartbeat. The light, steady rhythm of each track is reminiscent of a steady human heartbeat that pulses through the song.

One of the many beautiful aspects of this album is that Hammock has an amazing way of capturing specific moments in time. When listening to this album the audience may be reminded of comforting moments such as a sunset, a hug or a walk on the beach. The music brings these moments to life and allows the listener to escape the real world for a short time. For instance, the track “Release” is a heartfelt piece of music that instantly brings to mind the sound and motion of ocean waves. The music is highly meditative yet not overpowering to the mind.

Each song on this soundtrack is emotional and connects with the audience, with their undeniable sense of empathy. The soundtrack is full of warm, dreamlike tones that are soothing to any listener. The rhythm of this album is slightly muted, which also adds to the calming sensation of the music. The way the acoustic guitar is used throughout the album creates the feeling and image of running through a field.

Overall, Love in the Void is a hauntingly intricate album that engages the imagination and takes you on a journey through your most comforting memories. The music is cheerful and full of light and warm melodic tones. The entire album is captivating and colorful and makes you feel as though you are simply floating through the images that the music creates. Fans of all musical styles will definitely be moved by the music of Love in the Void.
