Kali Uchis at FPL Amphitheater on Apr. 30th

Kali Uchis is a Colombian-American artist and songwriter. She was born in Medellin, Colombia. She came to the United States when she was eleven years old and claims that her parents were immigrants from a country called Equatorial Guinea. At the age of 14, Kali started singing at local open mic nights with other aspiring artists in Medellín and soon gained popularity among locals who saw potential in her voice.

Her love for DJing, which eventually led her to create her first mixtape “The Songs of Peace”. Kali began writing music after the birth of her only child and went on a journey to discover herself as an artist. She’s a talented multi-instrumentalist and singer, with a gift for storytelling. Her music evokes a wide range of emotions–from melancholy to joyous, soothing to fierce. Kali Uchis has earned a reputation as an uncompromising artist who pushes herself hard to create powerful new songs and collaborations.

Uchis’ latest album “Fever,” released in April 2019, explores several different sounds that come together to make a cohesive whole. The tour will take her across the globe for a series of performances in the USA and Europe, where she’ll engage with fans through interactive experiences involving music and performance art.

Melanie Stewart: Hi! My name is Melanie and I am a music business/management student at Berklee College of Music. As a young child, I began vocal training and continued up until my second year of college. My experience in music has lead me to many opportunities including performing at local clubs/cafes, joining a band, and writing my own music amongst other things. Outside of music, I have a passion for business and design. I have been able to create my own business as well as co-design a website for a peer project to be used for their company. I hope to perfect my skill and further my education.
