8/4/23 – Chicago, IL – Radius
The psychedelic rock band, Unknown Mortal Orchestra is coming to Radius Chicago on April 8th! Unknown Mortal Orchestra, was formed by Hawaiian-New Zealand artist Ruban Nielson. According to the Wiki, Unknown Mortal Orchestra was born when Nielson released a song “Ffunny Ffriends” that got a lot of recognition from independent labels. Now the band adds bassist Jacob Portrait and Nielson’s brother Kody on drums.
The band has released five studio albums and is soon to release their sixth. According to their store, their next album V comes out on March 17th. It’s expected that many of the songs from their new album will be performed for the first time on tour along with their hits like “So Good At Being in Trouble” and “Hunnybee”.
The band has released a teaser for their upcoming album. The teaser is entitled Layla, which features four songs on the upcoming album. The songs on the EP feature Nielson’s muffled and smooth vocals with boppy drum beats and plucking guitars. The sneak peek features an acoustic track “I Killed Captain Cook” as well as the funky psychedelic rock song “Weekend Run”.
The fun songs are easy to sing along with groovy beats that you can dance to. Their show should be an easy going ride at Radius.
