311 at the Culture Room on Mar. 6th

311 is an American band that was formed in 1981 in Omaha, Nebraska by vocalist and guitarist Nick Hexum, guitarist Tim Mahoney, bassist Rick Doblin and drummer Chad Sexton. Their style has been variously described as reggae-rock, funk metal, alternative rock, and hip hop; however the band emphasizes a wide variety of influences including rock music from the 1960s and early 1970s.

Their musical career has been a long and winding road. From their early hardcore punk rock roots, through the rockcore of their early albums, and on to their more melodic, Pop-Rock hits over the years, the band has been one of the hardest working rock bands in history.

311’s music is influenced by a wide range of styles and genres . Their songs have been featured in many popular movies, television shows, commercials and sports events. Their song “Down” was used as the theme song for NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski. The band has sold more than 18 million records worldwide.

The 2023 tour across America will be the multi-platinum band’s most ambitious and adventurous trek yet! The tour includes four shows in New Orleans, LA on March 6 & 7 and two shows each in Orlando and Tampa

Melanie Stewart: Hi! My name is Melanie and I am a music business/management student at Berklee College of Music. As a young child, I began vocal training and continued up until my second year of college. My experience in music has lead me to many opportunities including performing at local clubs/cafes, joining a band, and writing my own music amongst other things. Outside of music, I have a passion for business and design. I have been able to create my own business as well as co-design a website for a peer project to be used for their company. I hope to perfect my skill and further my education.
