The Aquabats return to the House of Blues in Anaheim for the first time in two years. The band’s only show in 2023 thus far is set to be on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California.
The Lovers of Loving Love! Valentines Spectacular hosted by The Aquabats comes to Anaheim, California with special guests Half Past Two and Shock Therapy. This will be The Aquabats’ first show in 2023 following their summer 2022 tour featuring Less Than Jake and Bowling for Soup in their Back for the Attack tour.
The Aquabats are an American rock band formed in Huntington Beach, California in 1994. The band’s lineup has gone under various changes, but singer Christian Jacobs a.k.a. the MC Bat Commander and bassist Chad Larson or better known Crash McLarson remain the two constant fixtures. Since 2006 they have been joined by keyboardist Jimmy the Robot, drummer Ricky Fitness and guitarist Eaglebones Falconhawk. Self-described as five heroes “out to save the world,” the band is easily identifiable for their bright blue and black matching costumes. And if you still can’t tell who they are, they wear a big letter “A” on their chest.
The band’s music revolves around their comedic personas of crime fighting superheroes. They often include this bit in live performances with theatrical stage shows fighting off villains and monsters. The ska band broke into mainstream in 1996 as alternative music became popular. Travis Barker was the band’s drummer at this time before leaving to join iconic pop-punk band Blink-182. Following the early 2000s the band generally steers away from the ska genre and are now labeled a rock band.
The Aquabats have a total of six studio albums with the latest being their 2020 record Kooky Spooky…In Stereo. The album was postponed as the band acknowledged it wasn’t right to self-promote their goofy and rowdy rock during a time when political tensions were high from the coronavirus pandemic and racial tension of ongoing George Floyd protests. The album features singles such as “Skeleton Inside!” and “Pajamazon!” The group’s live performances are family friendly.
