Cheap Trick at the Hard Rock on Mar. 15th

Cheap Trick took inspiration from ’60s pop, punk and heavy metal. Their sound had a hard influence on both alternative and heavy metal bands of the ’80s and ’90s. Before Cheap Trick, these bands relied on the mainstream combination of blaring riffs and appealing melodies. Growing a following after three albums — 1977’s Cheap Trick, In Color and 1978’s Heaven Tonight coupled with non stop touring, Cheap Trick gained an unanticipated hit with At Budokan, a live album that went international.

They found success with Lap of Luxury and its popular single “The Flame.” However, after ditching the major labels with Cheap Trick (1997), the band rode a second wave of creativity, only strengthening their formula on-stage and in the studio. This resulted in Rockford (2006) and Bang, Zoom, Crazy… Hello (2016). After being elected to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, they rolled out a productive streak that delivered three albums within a short 18 months, and while touring was first and foremost for a while, they get back into the studio to produce album In Another World (2021). Their specific sound has not yet failed them as all their productions have had amazing success.

Melanie Stewart: Hi! My name is Melanie and I am a music business/management student at Berklee College of Music. As a young child, I began vocal training and continued up until my second year of college. My experience in music has lead me to many opportunities including performing at local clubs/cafes, joining a band, and writing my own music amongst other things. Outside of music, I have a passion for business and design. I have been able to create my own business as well as co-design a website for a peer project to be used for their company. I hope to perfect my skill and further my education.
