Melendi at FTX Arena on Feb. 26th

Singer Ramón Melendi Espina was born in 1979 in Oviedo, Spain. When Melendi was a young child, his parents ultimately decided that he was not born to be an academic student, so instead they allowed him to focus on his talents such as soccer and music. He spent a lot of his time as a kid hanging out in the streets of his city, creating life experiences that wouldn’t necessarily be taught in school. In 2001, Melendi joined the band El Bosque de Sherwood (Sherwood Forest), which showed him that he could possibly have a career outside of the band so he recorded solo demos. He went into the studio with three songs, “Sin Noticias de Holanda,” “Vuelvo a Traficar,” and “El Informe Forense.” In 2002, through a friend, Melendi’s three-song demo ended up with Carlito Records’ Javier Valiño, who happily signed him shortly after. In February of 2003, Sin Noticias de Holanda was released, featuring 12 songs, all of them Melendi’s compositions. The release of the album was followed by a brief national tour. By 2004, Melendi was taking up spots in the Top 100 on the national charts. The record went gold a short time later.

Melanie Stewart: Hi! My name is Melanie and I am a music business/management student at Berklee College of Music. As a young child, I began vocal training and continued up until my second year of college. My experience in music has lead me to many opportunities including performing at local clubs/cafes, joining a band, and writing my own music amongst other things. Outside of music, I have a passion for business and design. I have been able to create my own business as well as co-design a website for a peer project to be used for their company. I hope to perfect my skill and further my education.
