Let’s slow things down this February with Duster. Sad vibes only.
Super low fidelity sounding slowcore group Duster aims to take center stage at The Regency Ballroom this February and man this is looking good! I don’t know (or care) about you but I love slowcore! Bands like Codeine and Kowloon Walled City especially and now I have a new favorite! One song I recommend from Duster is Me and the Birds. For those of you not in the know of this genre’s sound, it is very gloomy but it is not to be confused with dark new wave music or what the kids these days call doomer music. It does not sound like it is from the 1980s. Much to the contrary it sounds very contemporary and modern. It’s like really slow and sad indie/garage music. Lyrics in this genre often consist of either interpersonal failure or societal collapse and depravity. Surprise to me these guys are at 3 million monthly streamers on Spotify. That is pretty good for a slowcore band. Codeine has been around for many many years and yet I would think is considered a staple but only has around 32 thousand monthly listeners. Interesting. Anyway, Duster is set to play the big and bold Regency Ballroom located in San Francisco for the Noise Pop 30 which is sponsored by Goldenvoice. I don’t know, some promotion agency or something or other. I don’t care to look them up. Noise Pop 30 is that massive promo thing I only heard about like a month or two ago. I have covered many bands already who are in the line up. Just saying. You know. To take up space so I can just get this thing written and done with already so I can just go to bed already. It’s late as I’m writing this. Woe is me. Anyway, so are you going or not?
