Next Month: Big Gigantic comes to The Salt Shed!

The electronic duo, Big Gigantic comes to Chicago on February 18th at The Salt Shed! The Denver, Colorado group is composed of Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken. Big Gigantic is celebrating the release of their recent album Bright Future 2. The album features 16 collaborations including Aloe Blacc and GRiZ. With the various collaborations, Big Gigantic hits various genres within their electronic dance style. 

 

“Renegade” features Party Pupils in a saxophone heavy song with fun house beats. The wipes of turntables can be heard throughout the dance track. According to Dancingastronaut.com, the song samples A.D.O.R.’s “One For The Trouble”. The line “You know what that means” echoes through the track. This song in particular is reminiscent of DJ Shadow. 

 

“Just the Same” features VIC MENSA and Mick Jenkins. The track sounds like it came out of an early 2000s hip hop or r&b album. The song includes verses from VIC and Jenkins while over a sample of “Remember the Rain?” by 21 Century, according to Genius

 

Single, “Open Your Mind” features GRiZ in a reggae dubstep track. The higher synth keeps the reggae rhythm going while the deeper synths uphold the buzzing sounds of dubstep. The song is a standout in the album for its genre bending style. 

 

According to their Spotify, Big Gigantic they’ve performed at multiple festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, ULTRA Music Festival, Hangout Music Festival, Electric Forest, and Bonnaroo. With their diverse sound Big Gigantic can get any dancefloor energized.
