Flogging Molly, the seven-piece band from Los Angeles, is coming to Austin this February. This show will mark the beginning of their US tour, which then continues until mid-March. They will perform at Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater on February 2nd 2023.
Flogging Molly formed in Los Angeles, California in the mid-‘90s. The leading man, Dave King, was inspired by Celtic musical elements, and decided to incorporate them into his previous punk-rock repertoire. They began to perform weekly at an Irish pub, thus beginning their extensive discography of Irish-influenced punk records, including songs like “Devil’s Dance Floor.” From their gigging days, they rapidly grew a following, allowing them to release their first live album- “Alive Behind the Green Door,” under the name (inspired by the pub) Flogging Molly. Their debut studio album “Swagger” was then released in March of 2000, solidifying their space in the music industry. They went on to release four more albums, all filled with barroom anthems, which landed them on top of the US Indie charts.
Throughout their time recording electrifying albums, they were able to become a festival-favorite band, touring each year. Their touring life began in the late ‘90s and continues to this day, with shows such as The Vans Warped Tour and the Deconstruction Tour and festivals including the Lowlands Festival 2002 and Pukkelpop 2002.
