Drive By Truckers at The Culture Room on Apr. 21st

Drive-By Truckers became one of the most well-known alternative country-rock groups since the 2000s . Led by Patterson Hood (vocals, guitar and songwriting) and fellow bandmate (guitar) Mike Cooley, and a rotation of  Georgia and Alabama natives, the Drive-By Truckers honor all the South has to offer while exposing its disgraceful background. History, folklore, politics, are shared equally amongst the Truckers discography, which started up with Gangstabilly (1998).

It was the band’s double-disc conceptual album name Southern Rock Opera (2001), that became its unlikely breakthrough. The album dived into Hood’s interest with ’70s Southern rock while speaking on the cultural contradictions. It set the course for all the work the band produced from then on. Decoration Day (2003), Brighter Than Creation’s Dark (2008) and English Oceans (2014) was deeply focused on songwriting. American Band (2016) brought forward their progressive political views, continuing to push it into their next two albums, The Unraveling and The New OK. Welcome 2 Club XIII (2022) took a personal turn and had more of a touch from the heart.

Melanie Stewart: Hi! My name is Melanie and I am a music business/management student at Berklee College of Music. As a young child, I began vocal training and continued up until my second year of college. My experience in music has lead me to many opportunities including performing at local clubs/cafes, joining a band, and writing my own music amongst other things. Outside of music, I have a passion for business and design. I have been able to create my own business as well as co-design a website for a peer project to be used for their company. I hope to perfect my skill and further my education.
