Deceased at Gramps on Feb. 17th

Deceased was co-founded by King Fowley, Doug Souther and Mark Adams in 1985. Influenced by major bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, the group quickly became involved in a heavier and more aggressive metal music scene known as “the underground”.

In the summer of ’86, the band had nine songs ready to be recorded for their debut demo, The Evil Side Of Religion, unprofessionally recorded by a friend with a portable eight-track studio for 20 bucks and some beer. The demo tapes were given away for free, and some fans even sent the band cash because they enjoyed the music so much. After the success of this promotional demo, Deceased took the steps to become more a more professional gig.

After many albums, touring and the death of a band member, with the help of Thrash Corner Records Deceased was able to continue releasing new material incrementally. As The Weird Travel On was released 4 years after their split with Relapse, followed up by an EP in 2007, and Surreal Overdose in 2011. Over the years the band released several compilation albums.

Melanie Stewart: Hi! My name is Melanie and I am a music business/management student at Berklee College of Music. As a young child, I began vocal training and continued up until my second year of college. My experience in music has lead me to many opportunities including performing at local clubs/cafes, joining a band, and writing my own music amongst other things. Outside of music, I have a passion for business and design. I have been able to create my own business as well as co-design a website for a peer project to be used for their company. I hope to perfect my skill and further my education.
