August Burns Red at Revolution Live on Feb. 20th

Formed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania  in 2003, some of the August Burns Red members were still in high school. Later in the year, a local independent label named CI Records, released August Burns Red’s first EP, Looks Fragile After All. The band began touring and received a positive response to the EP which led to the band being signed to at the time, young Christian metal label Solid State Records. Together, they released August Burns Red’s first full album, Thrill Seeker, in 2005.

Metalcore band August Burns Red, makes it a goal to send out a positive message along with the assertive and powerful attack of their music. Their sound is precise, with aimed volleys of guitar with a mash of melody and harshness and vocals paired with rigorous rhythms, often using unconventional time signatures. Along with the performances,  ABR avoids the darker subjects common to metalcore, but instead urges their listeners to do better for themselves and the world. The group found their feet creatively with their second album, Messengers (2007). Rescue & Restore (2013) was a hit with critics and fans, and earned ABR their first Grammy nomination. Phantom Anthem (2017) earned eager reviews and was a chart success. With 2020’s Guardians they were on top of Billboard’s Christian Albums chart before coming back with 2021’s Guardians Sessions EP.

Melanie Stewart: Hi! My name is Melanie and I am a music business/management student at Berklee College of Music. As a young child, I began vocal training and continued up until my second year of college. My experience in music has lead me to many opportunities including performing at local clubs/cafes, joining a band, and writing my own music amongst other things. Outside of music, I have a passion for business and design. I have been able to create my own business as well as co-design a website for a peer project to be used for their company. I hope to perfect my skill and further my education.
