Above and Beyond at Story Nightclub on Jan. 1st

Before starting Above & Beyond, Grant and Siljamäki met at the University of Westminster and created Anjunabeats, the label. A little time after, they met McGuinness, started Above & Beyond, and did a remix for “Home” by Chakra. Above & Beyond made their debut as DJs in 2002 and made their way into the Top Ten of the popular DJ Mag Top 100 poll.

One of the most successful and well-known DJs who create trance music from the 2000s through the 2020s, Above & Beyond are a British trio who are fantastic in production and remix work, as well as entertaining the crowds from the stage and their record label. Started in 2000 in London, this group was composed of Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamäki. Although they were able to gather attention and praise for their successful remix of Madonna’s “What It Feels Like for a Girl,” Above & Beyond steadily grew in popularity as producers and performers. They became big enough to sell out venues in Europe and the U.S. After breaking into the mainstream in 2015 with their third album, We Are All We Need, they got a Top Three U.S. hit with Common Ground. They released a series of ambient albums, and explored soundtracks with The Last Glaciers short film in 2022.

Melanie Stewart: Hi! My name is Melanie and I am a music business/management student at Berklee College of Music. As a young child, I began vocal training and continued up until my second year of college. My experience in music has lead me to many opportunities including performing at local clubs/cafes, joining a band, and writing my own music amongst other things. Outside of music, I have a passion for business and design. I have been able to create my own business as well as co-design a website for a peer project to be used for their company. I hope to perfect my skill and further my education.
