Brothers Kiszka, Josh (vocalist), Jake (guitarist) and younger brother Sam (bassist) were raised on rock music in Frankenmuth, Michigan. It’s known to be a small town aka “Little Bavaria” and is popular for its Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, an all year Christmas celebration. All the brothers formed their band in 2012 with drummer Kyle Hauck, who got swapped out for Daniel Wagner in 2013.

Created with a heavy influence of hard rock and blues, Greta Van Fleet came onto the scene in the mid-2010s while Josh, Jake, Sam and Kyle were still teenagers. Raised on classic FM vinyl, the band’s strong mix of rock and rhythm & blues, took inspiration from the Who and Led Zeppelin. Josh Kiszka actually takes a likeness to Robert Plant which was sure to influence Greta Van Fleet’s music and operation. Being musically feature in a 2017 episode of Showtime’s Emmy Award winning tv show “Shameless”, shed light on their single “Highway Tune” and ran it up the charts. By 2018, GVF appeared on loads of popular talk shows from The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon to Elton John’s Academy Award Party. Anthem of the Peaceful Army, the band’s 2018 debut album allowed them to become the most commercially successful American rock band of the Millenial/Gen Z generation.

Melanie Stewart: Hi! My name is Melanie and I am a music business/management student at Berklee College of Music. As a young child, I began vocal training and continued up until my second year of college. My experience in music has lead me to many opportunities including performing at local clubs/cafes, joining a band, and writing my own music amongst other things. Outside of music, I have a passion for business and design. I have been able to create my own business as well as co-design a website for a peer project to be used for their company. I hope to perfect my skill and further my education.
