Gucci Mane at LIV on Dec. 16th

Born as Radric Davis in Bessemer, Alabama, Davis grew up making rhymes and writing poetry in elementary school. In the fourth grade, he moved to Atlanta which is now a hot scene for rap music. By high school, Gucci Mane had spent some time in the booth. Big name rappers like Big Daddy Kane inspired Mane to put his rhymes to the music.

Atlanta rapper and 1017 label ceo Gucci Mane, is a trap (a subgenre of hip hop that includes heavy sub-bass, hi-hats, snares and 808 drums) pioneer who started his career with loads of albums and mixtapes before being sent to prison provided him with a turning point in his life. While incarcerated, he continued to drop music, releasing over 24 mixtapes. Mane left incarceration as a respected hip-hop figure and straightened out his life. Continuing recording, he released a sizable amount of albums in just a few short years, including well-known career highlights Everybody Looking (2016), Mr. Davis (2017), and Woptober II (2019).  All were Top Ten hits which must’ve felt good after being through so much personally. In 2021, Gucci Mane released his 15th album, Ice Daddy.

Melanie Stewart: Hi! My name is Melanie and I am a music business/management student at Berklee College of Music. As a young child, I began vocal training and continued up until my second year of college. My experience in music has lead me to many opportunities including performing at local clubs/cafes, joining a band, and writing my own music amongst other things. Outside of music, I have a passion for business and design. I have been able to create my own business as well as co-design a website for a peer project to be used for their company. I hope to perfect my skill and further my education.
