Bonny Light Horseman at Underground Arts on December 11th

Modern American folk band Bonny Light Horseman are on their Rolling Golden Holy Tour performing with indie folk musician Joan Shelley at The Underground Arts on Sunday, December 11th.

The trio consists of Anaïs Mitchell, Eric D Johnson and John Kaufman initially assembling at the Eaux Claires Festival in 2018. Before they met, each member already had experience in the music industry. Anaïs sang and wrote modern folk albums while her broadway musical Hadestown won several Tony Awards in 2019. Eric D. Johnson had his tenure as a member in The Shins as well as playing in the Fruit Bats. Kaufman had worked on projects with artists such as Bob Weir, The National, The War on Drugs and Josh Ritter.

Inspired by traditional british folk songs, the band has two studio albums including their 2020 self-titled album Bonny Light Horseman and Rolling Garden Holy which was released October 7th of this year. The debut album Bonny Light Horseman was Grammy nominated for Best Folk Album and won the Libera Award for Best Americana Record 2021. Their new record Rolling Garden Holy is out now and described as having a more pop sound and American feeling.
