The track that put Gareth on the map was GTR – ‘Mistral’. With insane talent and dedication, it was produced entirely on his laptop computer during his two week vacation in Provence. Nevertheless, the CDR that Gareth sent to Paul van Dyk garnered so much attention when van Dyk played it live on radio from the Nature One Festival for the first time, that Five AM records immediately decided to sign it, helping it to become a a worldwide anthem.
Since being signed to the exclusive management agency DJ Connections in 2003, Emery has performed at popular UK clubs Godskitchen and Slinky, headlined Passion on his first appearance at the club, and became recognized for being one of the most exciting DJs to break through in recent years. On top of his success in the United Kingdom, the world was officially beginning to see him as an international DJ, with bookings in Sweden, Holland, New Zealand, Australia and Canada lined up throughout the year. As Mixmag stated in late 2002: “boring DJs beware: Gareth Emery is about to kick your arse”, they predicted his success and he has only succeeded that and more.
