“The World’s Most Beloved Tenor”, Andrea Bocelli is performing at the FTX Arena in Miami Florida on December 18th.
Andrea Bocelli, is an italian tenor vocalist from Lajatico Italy, who is most known for his smooth voice and blend of classical and pop music. From the age of a child, Bocelli was diagnosed with a condition called congenital glaucoma (This disease causes a high pressure of fluid to build against the optic nerve which can lead to blindness). He picked up the piano at the young age of six then progressed into learning the flute as well as the saxophone. Unfortunately, at the youthful age of 12, he was diagnosed fully blind due to a brain hemorrhage caused by a soccer accident. Thankfully, Andrea Bocelli was not discouraged by his lack of sight and followed through with a career in music after abandoning his degree in law in young adulthood.
After his initial success with his first album, Bocelli went on to duet with an abundance of popular opera and pop artists. Vocalists such as Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, and Josh Groban have been added to his incredible repertoire.
Andrea Bocelli has become one of the most recognized and the most successful current tenor opera singer in the world. He has been able to sell over 80 million records and victoriously crossed over from traditional opera to introducing arias into the pop genre. Despite his condition, he has achieved greatness against all odds.
