The Smile at Riviera Theatre on Dec. 1

Get ready to grin this December as The Smile are coming to Chicago. Made up of a couple Radiohead Rockers, the trio’s 2022 tour hits both Europe and North America and reaches Chicago’s Riviera Theatre on Dec. 1.

The Smile’s debut album dropped in May 2022. This 13-track record, titled A Light for Attracting Attention, was rated highly by critics and climbed charts around the world. A Light for Attracting Attention includes singles “You Will Never Work In Television Again,” “The Smoke,” “Skrting On The Surface,” “Pana-vision,” “Free In The Knowledge” and “Thin Thing.” Their song “The Smoke” additionally comes with a remix by Dennis Bovell. Fans can look forward to hearing these tracks and others from A Light for Attracting Attention at the upcoming December concert.

Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood created English trio The Smile with Tom Skinner as a rock project in 2020. A Ted Hughes’ poem titled “The Smile” inspires their name. The pandemic-born band started performing live early in 2022, before publishing their first work together that same year. England’s Glastonbury Festival hosted their premiere performance in May 2021 through a surprise livestream appearance, as reported by Stereogum. Though a spinoff of Radiohead, The Smile has already adapted a sound of their own, as well as a massive following.

Critically acclaimed Radiohead side project The Smile will be in the Windy City on Dec. 1. See them play Chicago’s Riviera Theatre by purchasing tickets at axs.com.
